We are seeking a highly motivated, well-organized, and skilled individual who can function independently and as part of a team and demonstrates a strong background in cell biology, assay development, and in vitro screening. The candidate should be familiar with standard biochemical, cell, and molecular biology techniques and is expected to play a key role in the company. Exact title and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in managing the daily activities of the Bioanalytical group
  • Develop, execute, optimize, and troubleshoot the bioanalytical assay with limited supervision
  • Provide technical expertise in assigned study conduct, design, interpretation, and integration of data
  • “Troubleshoot” technical problems and performs equipment maintenance
  • Write up SOPs, and experimental protocols, prepare internal reports, and present results at internal and external meetings or conferences
  • Regularly interact with managers on all assigned projects
  • Keep accurate inventory of supplies for laboratory operations
  • Generate proof-of-concept data for new early-stage programs
  • Contribute to patent and/or publication preparation
  • Responsible for general lab safety
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in biotech or biopharma companies
  • Proficient in tissue/cell culture, in vitro screening, and standard techniques, such as ELISA, q-PCR, Western Blot, Quantigene, cell transfections, immunochemistry, and reporter assays
  • Experience with assay development and qualification
  • Experience with cell-based assay development, mRNA technology, immunofluorescence, high-content imaging, automation, and statistical evaluation of large data sets is desired
  • Ability to plan and execute experiments accurately, on time, and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Effective time management and organization skills; meticulous record keeping
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and collaborate with scientists in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in using standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc., and with standard laboratory calculations.

Physical Requirements

  • Working in a biohazard laboratory or other laboratories containing potentially harmful chemicals.
  • Continuous sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to operate a keyboard, equipment controls, pipetting, and other office equipment.
  • Frequent side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at the waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials, lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders, and transporting.
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling, reaching above and at shoulder height, moderate grasping to manipulate reference books and manuals, lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs. from below the waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
  • This position requires working in a dynamic laboratory environment and coordinating your activities with the activities of other laboratory personnel.
